Afterglow is for people who track their money in a spreadsheet and want to see it. Bring in the spreadsheet you already keep, and Afterglow lays it out month by month: what you earned, spent and saved, where it went, your net worth over time, and what your subscriptions really cost. There are no bank connections and no accounts, and your books stay on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Open the .xlsx or .csv you already keep. Every row and month lines up, checked to the cent against your sheet’s own totals.

One amount per row each month, like Salary, Rent or a card’s total. Earned, spent and saved add themselves up.

Questions
Do I need to connect my bank?
No. Afterglow never connects to banks. Each month you enter one total per row, or bring in the spreadsheet you already keep.
What spreadsheets can it read?
An Excel file (.xlsx) or a CSV, with months across the top or down the side. From Google Sheets, choose File → Download → Microsoft Excel; from Numbers, File → Export To → Excel. Before anything is saved, Afterglow shows each month’s totals next to your sheet’s own, so you can check them.
Can I keep using my spreadsheet too?
Yes. You can bring in a newer copy of your spreadsheet at any time, and Afterglow shows what changed before saving. With Afterglow Plus, Export can also write the months you’ve added in Afterglow back into a copy of your own file, with the same rows, colors and formulas.
What does Afterglow Plus add?
Afterglow is free, with one set of books and everything in it, iCloud sync included. Afterglow Plus is a one-time purchase of $14.99 that adds more sets of books (say, one for a business), widgets and Siri, updating your own spreadsheet from the app, and a gold app icon for your iPhone or iPad. It isn’t a subscription, your family gets it too through Family Sharing, and nothing you’ve already made is ever locked.
Where are my books stored?
On your device, in Afterglow’s own storage. If you turn on Sync with iCloud in Settings, your books also sync through your own private iCloud account, which Adorea can’t see. Afterglow has no servers and no accounts.
How do I use it on my iPhone, iPad and Mac?
Turn on Sync with iCloud in Settings on each device, signed in to the same Apple Account. Changes show up on your other devices within a few moments.
An account’s balance is being counted as spending.
Open the row and choose Move to Assets. Each month’s amount becomes that account’s balance at the end of the month, so it counts toward net worth instead of spending. Home offers this too when a row looks like a balance.
How do I keep my numbers private?
In Settings, Require Face ID locks Afterglow when you leave it, and Hide Amounts masks every amount, for when someone’s looking over your shoulder.
How do I back up my books?
In Settings, Export & Backup saves a backup of everything, or an Excel or CSV file, wherever you choose. Restore from a Backup brings a backup back.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. Afterglow works offline, with no account and no ads. The only thing that goes online is iCloud sync, and only if you turn it on.
